Write a document and download a working copy
WordCraft offers a word-processing workspace with ribbon controls and documented DOCX reading and writing. Start with a small document so you can check the actual save path and output before moving a complex report.
- Open the editor and create a blank document, or open a duplicate of an existing document.
- Write or revise the content. Check headings, fonts, tables and page endings.
- Use File → Save or Save As to download an editable copy.
- Reopen the saved document and inspect its content.
- For a recipient handoff, compare the saved DOCX in the actual receiving editor; keep the original.
DOCX support is a starting point for a compatibility check
Opening a DOCX and downloading another DOCX do not establish identical Microsoft Word rendering. A simple writing test cannot cover tracked changes, fields, nested tables, typography and complex section layouts. The DOCX handoff guide gives a feature-by-feature checklist.
WordCraft is a separate open-source product. This site does not claim Microsoft affiliation or a compatibility percentage.
What stays on your device
The editor is served by this site; file editing runs in your browser. Opening a local file does not upload it to an ArtCraft Tools processing server. The editing workspace has no Google Analytics collection. Optional advertising appears outside the canvas only after advertising consent. The hosting provider still receives connection information when delivering application files.
The guide pages have separate optional analytics and advertising choices. Advertising frames are isolated from the editor; those services do not receive your editor files. External project and community links leave this site and follow their own privacy policies.
If the editor does not start
Use a current desktop browser with WebAssembly and WebGPU or WebGL2. The Graphics selector offers the documented WebGL2 fallback. The first visit downloads a large application package; wait for it to finish before trying again.
A keyboard, mouse and larger screen make the desktop-style controls easier to use. The guide remains readable on a phone; narrow editor windows ask you to continue before downloading the application. Download your work before closing or restarting; browser memory and storage are not a backup.
What our browser check covers
The release smoke check creates a small document, types text, downloads DOCX and reopens the result in WordCraft. It does not test Microsoft Word, a complex reviewed document or every import/export format.
Questions, answered
Do I need an account to start WordCraft online?
No account is required for this hosted Web build.
Does the browser version guarantee Word compatibility?
No. Check your actual saved DOCX in the receiving editor, including required review features and layout.
Is browser storage a backup of my document?
Do not treat it as one. Download a working copy before closing or restarting and keep your original separately.
