The practical difference
PhotoCraft is a Rust image editor with desktop downloads and a WebAssembly package. Its official directory describes it as early alpha. Photopea is an independent browser editor whose official site documents PSD opening and saving.
This comparison uses those descriptions. We have not measured performance, tested PSD fidelity or verified every tool in either application.
Choose around your actual task
If you need to look inside a PSD without installing a desktop application, investigate Photopea’s browser workflow. If you want to explore ArtCraft’s open-source desktop editor, follow PhotoCraft’s official download.
Having a WebAssembly build does not make PhotoCraft the same product as Photopea, and a similar interface does not guarantee the same behavior.
Use a repeatable compatibility check
Duplicate a representative document. Record the fonts, effects and masks it relies on. Open the copy, compare the rendered result and export the format you normally deliver. Reopen that output in the receiving application.
For important work, include the difficult files in your check, not only the clean sample. Keep your existing editor available until the tasks you depend on are covered.
Questions, answered
Is Photopea part of ArtCraft?
No. It is a separate product.
Which is faster?
We have not benchmarked either application. Hardware, file size and the specific operation affect the answer.
Which should I use for a quick PSD preview?
Photopea documents a browser PSD workflow. Check the actual file and the provider’s current conditions.
