Automatic background removal
remove.bg offers an image-upload workflow for automatic background removal. Read its current limits, privacy policy and download options before choosing a file. This is an external processing service, not a local tool hosted here.
Use an image you have permission to process. Review the cutout against both a light and dark background; hair, transparent objects and soft shadows often need attention.
An editable layer mask
A layer mask lets you hide parts of an image while keeping the original pixels available. PhotoCraft’s project describes selection and masking tools. That is a different workflow from downloading a single automatic cutout.
Our advice is to keep a layered working copy when you may need to refine an edge later. Export a separate transparent image for delivery.
Choose a transparent output
Use a format that supports transparency, such as PNG. Inspect the actual alpha channel rather than assuming a checkerboard pattern in a preview proves the file is transparent.
JPEG cannot retain transparency. If the destination needs JPEG, choose a solid background and review the composite before exporting.
Questions, answered
Are my files uploaded to this directory?
No. The service button takes you to another provider. Its data processing and terms apply there.
Is full-resolution removal always free?
Do not assume that. Check the provider’s current download limits and pricing.
Will a JPEG preserve the cutout transparency?
No. Use a format with an alpha channel, or composite onto a chosen background.
