What is ArtCraft DeckCraft?
DeckCraft belongs to the ArtCraft Crafting Apps family and is written in Rust. Its documented workflow covers creating slides and presenting them, with themes, layouts, shapes, pictures, tables, charts and speaker notes.
Choose it for a presentation task. WordCraft is the separate document editor; EffectCraft handles motion graphics and compositing. A slide deck that happens to contain animation is still a different project from a layered composition.
DeckCraft features to evaluate on your own slides
The official product page describes slide masters, themes, transitions, animations and presenter view. Treat that list as a starting point for a trial. The useful question is whether the controls and saved result support the presentation you need to deliver.
| Your task | What to try | What to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Create a consistent deck | Apply a theme and edit a master | Text and placeholders on several layouts |
| Explain a process | Arrange shapes, labels and connectors | Alignment, text wrapping and readability |
| Present with notes | Rehearse using presenter view | The audience view and your speaker notes |
| Deliver an animated slide | Try a transition or object animation | Timing during playback and after saving |
Download DeckCraft from the official ArtCraft page
On 16 October 2026, the official page listed DeckCraft 0.5.0, with ArtCraft Launcher and standalone download routes for macOS, Windows and Linux. Use the current product page to choose your platform and architecture. It links to the release files and checksums.
The launcher is the route for managing several Crafting Apps; a standalone download installs DeckCraft on its own. Keep the release version with any compatibility notes so you can repeat the same test later.
PPTX compatibility: check the editable handoff
The maintainer documents opening and saving .pptx files. That does not establish that every PowerPoint feature survives a round trip. Use a duplicate of the actual deck and compare it in the application your recipient will use.
Inspect fonts and line breaks first, then slide masters, grouped objects, charts and any media you rely on. Save under a new filename, reopen that output, and check the changed slides alongside nearby slides. If the recipient needs to keep editing, send the checked editable file as well as any reading copy.
PDF export and presentation playback answer different needs
The README lists PDF export for slides, notes pages and handouts, along with slide-image export. Check the output you actually create: page size, clipping, text selection and the intended inclusion of notes all affect the handoff.
A static PDF does not demonstrate transition timing or media playback. Rehearse the slide show separately on the equipment you plan to use. For a reading copy, open the exported PDF in a separate viewer and inspect the pages at a useful size.
Try one representative deck before moving a collection
A short deck with the features you use is more informative than an empty slide. Include a title, body text, an image, a table or chart, and notes only if those belong in your normal workflow.
- Keep the original presentation and a reference PDF from its current editor.
- Open a duplicate in the DeckCraft release you selected.
- Make one representative edit and compare the affected layout.
- Save a separate PPTX and export the reading format you need.
- Reopen the PPTX in the receiving editor, inspect the export, and rehearse any playback.

Questions, answered
Is DeckCraft part of ArtCraft?
Yes. The official ArtCraft product page and the storytold/deckcraft repository identify it as a Crafting App. This directory is independent of that team.
Can DeckCraft open and save PowerPoint files?
The maintainer documents PPTX opening and saving. Test a copy in the receiving editor before relying on the result; we have not verified a PowerPoint round trip.
Where can I download DeckCraft?
Start at getartcraft.com/apps/deckcraft. Choose the current launcher or standalone build for your operating system and architecture.
Is DeckCraft a finished PowerPoint replacement?
The maintainer labels it alpha. Feature descriptions do not establish readiness for your deck; check layout, exported files and playback before changing a working setup.
Does this site have a DeckCraft online editor?
Yes. Open the DeckCraft online guide linked here to launch our independently hosted official Web build. Download the working deck before closing.
