FigCraft layouts, components and design variables
The official product describes frames, auto layout, components, variants, styles and variables. Its maintainer labels FigCraft early alpha. Use a trial to check the layout rules that matter to your design rather than assuming a familiar panel arrangement guarantees the same behavior.
A useful sample has a navigation component, a text-heavy card and both narrow and wide frames. Change a component property, switch the color mode and resize the frames. Inspect wrapping, spacing and any instance overrides after saving.
Opening a FIG file is a compatibility check
The maintainer documents .figcraft archives and best-effort opening of .fig files. Best effort leaves room for differences; do not overwrite the only copy of a client design. Record the imported file’s source application and the FigCraft release used.
Compare fonts, auto layout, component instances, variables and prototype links against a reference. Reopen the saved .figcraft file and repeat the checks. An exported image can show appearance, but it does not verify editable components or interactions.
Try a complete prototype path
The product page describes connections, triggers, transitions and a presentation view, plus developer-handoff controls. Build one path from a starting screen through a dialog and a return action. Try it as the recipient will see it.
Generated code is a starting point to review in your own project. Check measurements and assets separately, and inspect keyboard and touch behavior in the receiving application. We have not tested FigCraft imports, collaboration or generated code.
A small FigCraft project to evaluate first
Use a duplicate or a disposable design. Keep a reference export so you can tell an import difference from an edit you made.
- Open a representative design or create two linked screens.
- Change one component and resize a frame.
- Run the prototype path and inspect the result.
- Save a separate .figcraft file, reopen it and compare it with your reference.
FigCraft versions: official downloads and this site
On 18 October 2026, the official FigCraft product page linked to 0.5.1 packages; the GitHub latest-release page resolved to 0.7.0. Use the version attached to the file you actually download and read that release’s notes.
Our hosted FigCraft browser editor uses 0.7.0. The application files were updated in this release. Startup, a small sample and your own file compatibility remain separate checks. Download your work before closing.
| Destination | Version at this check | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Official product page | 0.5.1 | Platform and package choices |
| GitHub release | 0.7.0 | Published release files and notes |
| This site | 0.7.0 | Pinned browser build; download your work |
Choose a small task before changing your workflow
For FigCraft, start with the representative check above and keep both the original and the saved result. Choose the official download for your operating system and processor, then inspect that exact version. A release number, screenshot or feature list cannot establish that your own file is ready to deliver.
Questions, answered
Is FigCraft part of ArtCraft?
Yes. The official Crafting Apps directory links to FigCraft and its storytold/figcraft repository. This directory is independent.
Can FigCraft open Figma FIG files?
The maintainer describes FIG opening as best effort. Check a duplicate for layout, components, variables and prototype behavior; we have not tested that import.
Is FigCraft ready for every client design?
The maintainer labels it early alpha. Evaluate a representative saved project and the handoff requirements before changing a working design workflow.
Where can I download FigCraft?
Use https://getartcraft.com/apps/figcraft for the launcher and platform packages, or the linked 0.7.0 GitHub release for its files and notes. Check the version and checksum belonging to your selected download.
